Martin Luther King Day Breakfast and Celebration

January 18th 2016; 9:30 – 11:30

Reading Memorial High School:

William Endslow Performing Arts Center

On Monday, January 18th, 2016, the Human Relations Advisory Committee, along with the Reading Public Schools, invite YOU to participate in our Annual Multi-Community Martin Luther King Day Celebration at Reading Memorial High School in the William Endslow Performing Arts Center. It is free and open to everyone of all ages.

At 9:30 AM, a light breakfast will be served along with activities for children and exhibits by local organizations.  These exhibits will shine a light on community members answering what Martin Luther King asserted as “Life’s most persistent and urgent question: ‘What are you doing for others?’ “

Beginning at 10 AM in the auditorium, the program will feature school and community performances including the METCO Elementary School Chorus; the Reading Community Singers; the Choir of the Korean Church of the Nazarene; and Reading Memorial High School’s Chorale and a cappella Groups.  The program will also feature a special performance by the Award Winning RMHS Drama Club. The invocation will be delivered by Latifa Ziyad, radio host and past president of Cooperative Metropolitan Ministries, New England’s oldest and largest social justice interfaith organization.

Join us as we rise to the occasion of celebrating this great Civil Rights leader, illuminating diversity and shining a light on the dreams of Martin Luther King, Jr. – past, present, and future!  Invite your friends and family to come along – the more people celebrating the Light of Martin Luther King’s Dreams, the more we Illuminate Diversity in our community and beyond.  See you on the morning of January 18th – Martin Luther King Day!
